I'm going to create 100 pieces of art to raise awareness of Motherwell Cheshire’s “Cherry Blossom Service”. This supports mums following experience of infant loss.  Sadly not all pregnancies result in a happy ending - 1 in 4 women will suffer the heart-break of miscarriage.  Cherry Blossom also helps women who have suffered ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or a neonatal death (in the weeks or months following birth).

The “Cherry Blossom Service” offers professional 1 to 1 counselling and group sessions, allowing bereaved parents a safe place to share experiences with others.

As is the case for most charities, COVID 19 has hit the sector like a sledgehammer, with the loss of billions in both income and volunteer hours. However, Sir Captain Tom Moore stepped up to help in his ownimitable way. I will be celebrating the extraordinary spirit of Sir Captain Tom by creating art to help my chosen charity Motherwell Cheshire.

About me: I love using vivid colours and recycling materials wherever possible. The 100 pieces will be mixed media, drawings or printings – maybe even textiles! I’m not a trained artist, and have learned by ‘having a go’ – I hope that this inspires you to donate and have a go yourself!
