Vogalonga is one of the most beloved regattas in Venice. This major celebration was born out of a chance in 1974 from an idea by a group of Venetian non professional oarsmen and consists in a 30 km rowing
marathon open both to professional participants and to amateurs through some of he most significant locations and canal in the city. Among these, S. Erasmo, S. Francesco del Deserto, Burano, Mezzorbo, Murano and the Grand Canal.
I have chosen to row with my fellow rowers from Molesey Boat Club in a quad ( boat of 4 rowers) to enjoy the spirit of historical festivities. A carnival
procession and a sporting event; the Vogalona Regatta is a colourful, enjoyable
event for participants and spectators.
