Why am I rebuilding a school in Nepal and how can you help?

As many of you may know, I spent some of my childhood in Nepal, and the country and wonderful people hold a special place in my heart. When I heard the stories of Nepalese children whose lives have been turned upside down by the earthquake in 2015; girls and boys vulnerable to abuse, child marriage and even trafficking because they no longer had a safe place to go to school, I felt compelled to try to help however I can.

I would love you to help me get these children back to a safe and secure learning environment as soon as possible by helping me raise the £300,000 needed to rebuild a school in Nepal.

The rebuilt school will not just help this generation but will also give
future generations of children a safe space in which to learn. The
building will be rebuilt structurally stronger, so that it can withstand
future tremors and prevent the tragic earthquake destruction from happening again.

I have sponsored children with Plan International UK for nearly 40 years, and have been so impressed with the lasting impact their work has had on local communities and I love sponsoring individual children through their educational lives; receiving photographs and letters from them about their family, or thanking me for the stickers that I sent them for their birthday. Not only does Plan International build schools, they work closely with local people to improve their lives in very practical and successful ways, bringing about real change in the poorest communities.

to generations of children in Nepal.  Here are some examples of how
you can help:

£1200 could pay for library books and audio-visual resources for the whole school.

£5000 could pay for school kits (stationery, note books, bags, pencils) and whiteboards for class rooms.

£15,000 could pay for the construction of one new disaster resilient classroom.

Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference.
