Story
The Lakeland 50 in July this year will be by far my biggest & most exciting running challenge. It will involve 50 miles of hilly multi-terrain running in the beautiful Lake District, starting at Ullswater and finishing at Coniston. I'm so glad I did three recces of the course because it is tough, tough, tough so I know what is coming. It is for a worthwhile cause though as all the money kindly donated will go to EPIC KIDZ; the race organisers charity of choice.
EPIC KIDZ provides small grants directly to volunteer groups to purchase or hire equipment and resources for sporting or recreational activities for children, particularly children who are less fortunate who may not have the opportunities to participate in sporting activities. Encouraging children to get active will support with promoting healthier lifestyles. All the money goes directly to children and not on staff salaries.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the charity so far. I will be most appreciative of any amount you can donate, as EPIC KIDZ will be also.
The training leading up to this challenge is fierce. So far this year I have completed the Wirral Way half, Winter Buff Trail Wales half, Grizedale marathon, Tralee marathon, Northumberland Coastal ultra, Chester ultra, Liverpool to Manchester ultra, Liverpool half, Howgills half and Trail Marathon Wales. I have just completed the Tour of Merseyside - 52 miles in one week & the Pendle Hill trail half. That's it - no more until the big one!
