I'm running the Great East Run (Half Marathon) at the end of September in remembrance of my late father, Anthony Kenneth Doling, who passed away in March of this year as a result of a diabetes-related illness.

Although this is of a particularly personal nature, I'm raising money for the Architects Benevolent Society, who were so helpful and supportive to Dad in his later years and who still continue to help my Mum. They're an organisation who put people and their situations at the forefront and do an amazing amount of work facilitating people to have dignity in their day to day lives and bringing the occasional sparkle to it too! Anything you can help with is hugely appreciated by myself and family and will go on to do great work.

As well as being a professional Architect, Dad was a great musician and artist too. We intend to honour this at a further date by curating and hosting a celebration of his work. But, in the meantime, i'm going to up the mileage of my regular solo-efforts around the roads and trails of Ipswich by doing the first ever Great East Run. A little further than I like to go and there's a great hill climb halfway through, that's going to be terrific fun!!

Dad was amazed and concerned in equal measures when I took to running several years ago and would continually say, 'I hope you're looking after yourself boy?' when I told him I'd just done Six miles through the local woods. His words will be ringing in my ears on the day (not just the tinnitus!) and with those and your support, it will, I hope, get me round and over the finish line.
