My nan passed away peacefully a couple of weeks ago at the grand age of 92. 

For the past 9 years she had the very best care at Nightingale House, a residential care home for the elderly run by the charity Nightingale Hammerson. 

For all 4ft 9" of her, my nan was a little powerhouse of a woman, full of energy and a zest for life. Through it's broad range of activities including baking, pottery, textiles, talks, shopping trips, pet therapy, arts and crafts, bridge, concerts, poetry, outings, gardening club and parties, she was able to continue leading the full life she had lived before she entered Nightingale.

Many of the residents at Nightingale have complex needs including dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and arthritis but the fact that around one in ten residents are aged 100 or more is testament to the amazing care they provide. Each week the charity needs to raise around £600 per resident to cover the full costs of their care, over and above the fees they receive from local authorities and families.

I've somehow been roped into doing a 5K Tough Mudder with work and thought it was an apt moment to try and raise a little to give back to the charity for their incredible work.
