Weston Hospicecare provides expert end-of-life care, free of charge, to people with life-limiting illnesses. Our goal is people can live as well as they can, for as long as they can; we help them feel like family and friends again, not just patients and carers.

Story

Weston Hospicecare is a hospice in Weston-super-Mare. It serves the people of North Somerset by offering day care and residential care for the terminally ill as well as helping families to look after dying relatives in their own homes. It costs approximately £2.4 million a year to run; £6,600 per day. I think that it is a wonderful organisation.

Every year Weston Hospicecare runs the 'Mendip Challenge', which is a fund raising walk through the Mendips and so there are some quite stiff hills to climb. There is a choice of 5,10, 20 or 30 mile walks and this year, to celebrate the event's 20th year, the entrants are being asked to 'go the extra mile'. So, this coming Sunday (June 6th), I will be walking 31 miles wearing a colander with parsley stuck into the holes to meet the expectations of 2 contributors to my target of £1,300.

Last year I walked 30 miles in almost exactly 10 hours including all stops and raised £1,300, which would pay to look after someone in the hospice for half a week. It would be great to do the same again so please support me.
