Story
Help to beat all cancers.
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. This September, I’m raising money at Shine Night Walk to help Cancer Research UK fund its life-saving work.
This time last year my son's partner, Kate, was bravely fighting cancer, a fight which we were convinced she was beginning to win. She was not alone and was being supported by my son Chris whose remarkable inner strength was only matched by that of Kate's.As a thank you to all those who had helped Kate throughout her illness Chris and I, along with Dave (Chris's best mate) entered the 2013 Shine walk. Four days before last years walk Chris received the devastating news that Kate's cancer had returned and was now terminal. Kate passed away peacefully on the 31st October at a local hospice, she was 32 and died on her birthday. Through family and true friends Chris, Dave and I raised over £4000.00 via the Shine walk, an enjoyable but somewhat somber evening.
A year on and Chris cannot make this year's walk as he will be away in Australia taking Kate's ashes back to the land of her birth. So his twin sister, Charlotte, will be accompanying the 'old man' and hoping to raised as much as we can to help beat this terrible curse.
Thank you for reading this story, not the nicest story you will ever read but hopefully one that will have a happy ending some day.
Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years.
But we can’t stop there.
