Archie (7B) versus Ben Nevis · 13 August 2021

Year 7 Barton are taking on the "Race to 600" - the challenge to raise £600 together for the Sports Campus urgent appeal. They will be taking on various challenges and activities to raise their funds together, learning lots of skills!

Story

This summer I am climbing Ben Nevis with my family (and dog). We are doing this in order to raise money for the 600 campaign.

The world record for climbing Ben Nevis is 1 hour 25 minutes but we won't be running up it like the world record holders do. On average it takes around 4 to 5 hours to climb Ben Nevis and then we will be walking back down again. It will be a long day! We have been practicing by doing really long walks.

In old Gaelic Ben Nevis means "mountain with its head in the clouds" and it used to be a volcano, until it collapsed in on itself millions of years ago.

Thanks for sponsoring me!
