Arcus Christmas Raffle 2020 · 17 December 2020

Catch22 has more than 200 years experience providing services that help people turn their lives around. We help troubled young people, families and offenders to steer clear of crime or substance misuse, do the best they can in education or employment, and play a full part in their community.

Story

At Arcus, we believe our company should reflect the wider community in which it exists, and this means we should also represent the  marginalised, disadvantaged and underrepresented groups in our societies.

Arcus are donating money raised from the 2020 Christmas Raffle to Catch 22 who are one of our three social value organisations that we work with.  Catch 22 design and deliver services that build resilience and aspiration in people of all ages and within communities across the UK.

Care leavers make up to 25% of the UK’s homeless population and 27% of the UK prison population.  Only 17% of prison leavers manage to get a job within a year of release. Also, studies show that due to suffering mental health issues and not getting the support they need, thousands of ex-service personnel are in prison, on parole or probation.

Statistics like this are startling. This impacts not just on the individuals
but also their families and the wider community.

If we can make a difference, then we feel it’s our duty to do so. By improving a person’s life chances with a job or a work experience opportunity, we decrease the likelihood that they will turn, or return, to a life of crime, suffer from mental health issues or end up homeless.

By working with Catch 22 we believe we can be a part of the national solution to create healthier communities and give people the chance they need to turn their lives around.
