Story

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Snowflake School,

Sadly, due an awkward fall a few days ago before my climb, I suffered a broken finger which prevented me from completing my aim to summit the Matterhorn this year. Over the past few days, several people have died trying to ascend it and I was told by an experienced guide who knows the mountain well that I need ALL my fingers to be able to hang onto ropes and climb effectively. I have therefore had to postpone that trip, much to my disappointment and sadness, as I was very well prepared mentally and physically for the challenge. Nevertheless, I completed the three “training” climbs that I had planned prior to the Matterhorn and I attach a few photos to prove it. The last climb (Lagginhorn) was very difficult, both lots of rock climbing and very steep, could actually pass for a mini Matterhorn. Nevertheless, I am sorry to have caused disappointment to all those who expected me to complete my stated aim. I feel like I have let down the School and will do my best to make amends next year.

Thank you for your support and understanding,
