Story
Thank you for taking time to look at my page.
I have decided to run the Marathon this year, as I want to raise as much money as I can for Havens Hospices. I hope the torture I'm going to put myself through, will inspire you all to help and make it worth while :) I also hope my story explains a little about why I am doing this.
Havens is a charity very close to my heart. I have experienced first-hand what they do and how amazing they are. Havens cared for my wonderful Mum and I will be forever grateful for what they did for her. Going into a hospice is sad, scary and unknown, but the staff at Havens made me, my sister and Mum feel reassured and safe from the first meeting. The nurses were the most caring, kind and gentle people I have ever known and truly show love to the patients they look after, which is something very special.
The Hospice is currently in a large converted house; sadly they have to turn away 11 patients every month because they don’t have enough beds and the facilities are no longer fit for purpose. Because of this, Havens want to build a new, modern adult hospice in Southend-On-Sea. It will incorporate 16 in-patient bedrooms, increased Day Hospice services, additional family support and beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds. I felt now was the right time, to do all I can to help the hospice achieve their final steps of the funding needed, so this can become a reality.
I want Havens Hospices to be around forever, to help those who need it most and provide comfort in the darkest of times.
Thank you for reading my story and any donation amount will bring us closer to the goal.
