Story

The Armenian Symposium is a one-day conference taking place on 25 March 2017 in London. We, The Armenian Society (affiliated with the University College London Union), have organised a Symposium in collaboration with a range of alumni, graduates and key speakers to present several public speeches and discussion panels examining current issues relevant to Armenia, its diaspora and their roles in the global arena. We are also hosting art exhibits and performances. Its aim is to promote an intercultural exchange by raising interest in Armenian culture, business and politics as well as to focus on identifying development models for the Armenian homeland. The Armenian Symposium welcomes speakers from business, political, cultural and academic spheres from all over the world who are interested in creating a dialogue between Armenia, its diasporan communities and the rest of the world.

This year’s conference is the first ever Armenian Symposium and deals with the most topical issues of the Armenian society, economy, politics and culture within the overarching context of globalisation.

However, the organisation of the event requires funding for setting up the venue, payment of some of the artists, and other expenses that come alongside with organising such an ambitious and stimulating event. Sadly, we don't get very much funding from the University. We're full of everything but funds! We would be extremely grateful if, whether you are familiar with Armenia or are interested in getting to know more about it, could make a contribution to help us make the Armenian Symposium happen.
