Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Just Giving page of Arthur Boxall aged six.

One year ago I told my Mummy and Daddy that I wanted to do a sponsored bike ride to help raise funds for the Help4Harry charity. This was following an awareness day at school for Harry Barnley and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Harry is a little boy just like me, full of fun and mischief and a lover of his bike.  He is the same age as me and lives very close by. Tragically just after his 5th birthday, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

It is likely  by his 10th birthday that Harry will be in a wheelchair and his upper body will begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition. As a muscular degenerative disease eventually his heart and lungs will fail. The most difficult part is that there is no cure, it will happen and it is 100% fatal.

In February 2015 aged 5, I cycled part of the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow (and  back again), a total of about 12.5 miles from my starting point at Wadebridge School.

Incredibly and thanks to the generosity of family, friends and other very kind people I managed to raise an amazing £1434 in support of Help4Harry and the Muscular Dystrophy charity.

Help4Harry are a family fund supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK and specifically the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund which is working to advance research and emerging treatments for Duchenne.

My next challenge in February 2016 is to cycle the whole of the Camel Trail from Wenfordbridge to Padstow which is just over 18 miles. Once again I will be fundraising to support Help4Harry and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

All money I raise will be dedicated to Help4Harry and the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund in the hope that Harry and other children across the UK will benefit from their work.
