Story
Hello all, Arthur here....
I am running the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for the British Lung Foundation as my lovely wife Trisha died 2 years ago from a rare lung condition. Trisha was a very special person & is missed by so many. She worked for the NHS for 45 years during which her compassionate and gentle nature was much appreciated by her colleagues and those she cared for. I know that Trish would be thrilled that funds are being raised in her memory to support those suffering from lung disease and for much needed research in this area.
Getting fit enough to run the Half Marathon has been a huge commitment. At 64, I am certainly no spring chicken. Having never engaged in any sports and with no previous running experience, I had to start from scratch. On day one I could barely manage 20 yards. It has taken me almost 2 years of attending 3 training sessions a week to get into shape for the Marathon. Thanks to the running team at Maindy Stadium (where I am the golden oldie) I am now running 18 miles a week.
The Cardiff Marathon is on October 6th 2013. Below is a link to full details about the Marathon including the route:

If you are in the area, please do feel free to come along to give vocal support (or laughter at my pained expressions, scarlet face and shaking limbs). I will be wearing the red and blue British Lung Foundation t-shirt.
I would be delighted if you would consider sponsoring me in support of this very worthy organisation. Donating through JustGiving is simple and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they don't sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
All donations will be so very welcome & greatly appreciated.
Arthur
