Over the last four and a half decades, I've done three Outward Bound courses - one in the 1970s, one in the 2000s, and the third this year. 

I've also participated in 8 'Coast to Coast' (https://www.coasttocoast.co.nz/) multisport events, traversing 243kms from the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand to the East Coast, by running, cycling and kayaking.

And for the past three years, since 2019, I've mentored student teams from Aotea College, Porirua, to train for and enter the Coast to Coast.

On this page, I'm bringing all those three things together: during my training and preparation for, and then competing in, my ninth Coast to Coast in February 2022, I'll be raising money to send a Year 12 Aotea College student to Outward Bound: to impel them into experiences that they might otherwise never have, to find and realise their potential, and to prepare them for a life contributing to their school, their community and to the wider world.
