We advocate for porphyria patients to improve their quality of life

Story

On 10th May, a team of 13 intrepid walkers from Artorius took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. The aim was to complete the 24 miles and 1585m of ascent in under 12 hours, and we did it!

To celebrate our achievement, we have decided to raise money for the British Porphyria Association. The porphyrias are a group of rare genetic disorders which can manifest in different ways for different sufferers and the daughter of one of our Artorius colleagues has a condition called EPP, which is a type of acute porphyria. The condition means she can't be out in the sun for long periods and can cause nasty, painful symptoms for her.

The British Porphyria Association seeks to support sufferers, raise awareness of the conditions and lobby the NHS and government to improve treatments. We would be really grateful for any donations to the British Porphyria Association to assist with their really valuable work.

About the charity

The BPA is committed to advocating for, supporting and educating porphyria patients, relatives and medical professionals, so as to improve the quality of life for those living with the different types of porphyria. We promote disease awareness and the advancement of research into new therapies.
