Story

As many of you may know, our 6 year old son, Aryan, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes over three years ago before his third birthday. (Have a look at his video!)

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition. For reasons which are not yet fully understood, the immune system, which is meant to protect you from foreign bodies such as viruses and bacteria, starts to attack and over a few days, it permanently destroys the beta cells in your pancreas that produce insulin. You cannot prevent it by adopting a healthy lifestyle or exercising regularly and, those living with Type 1, have to endure a gruelling regime of constant blood testing and insulin injections to keep them alive.

There is unfortunately currently no known cure for Type 1. JDRF is however committed to funding the research which we hope will, in Aryan's lifetime, find the cure. Aryan is very excited about his first walk and will be doing it with his mummy, daddy and little sister Elena!
