Story
In April 2016, I visited Nanyuki in Kenya. During my trip, I met a very poor couple who have 5 children; Mary, 11 Joy, 7 and 2 year old triplet girls. When I arrived at their home it was shocking; they all lived in a what I can only describe as a shed. The mother didn't want us to see inside their home as she was embarrassed. As you can imagine for a family of 7 who are very poor, living is very difficult. The triplets are locked in the house whilst the parents are planting outside, whilst the older girls do other chores. The family have no water supply so have to collect community water once a week though they have nowhere to store it. My aim is to raise enough money to provide a water tank. It's as little as £250 which for us it isn't that much, but for them it will be everything.
Whilst in Kenya, I also volunteered at the Nanyuki children's home which is a home for street children started by my friend Karenza. I met the most amazing, intelligent children who had some of the saddest and heart-breaking background stories. If I raise more than my £250 target, the additional money will be going to the children's home to help buy school books, stationary and clothing.
Please see the link to the charity on my page for more information of what they do!
