As some of you know i was raised by my step dad and had no contact with my biological father from the age of 5. At 19 i made the decision to find my father with the hope of building some sort of relationship with him. Little did i know that during my time of searching he had been diagnosed with the terminal illness that is Motor Neurone Disease and had been bravely battling on for around 7 months with support from his amazing wife Norma who never left his side.

By the time it was arranged for us to meet again this horrible disease had left a once strong and independent man bed ridden and virtually paralyzed from the neck down - requiring machines to help -  even in breathing.  Fortunately his ability to talk was still there and we had great conversations during my visits to see him before he lost the battle and passed away  aged 46 on the 1st December 2009 a mere 2 short weeks after we had met again

MND Scotland were a great support to Norma and the family and I would like to raise some monies as a way of saying thank you for all the hard work they put in to our personal case and for all that they continue to do in finding some sort of cure for this devastating illness. 

As such i am running 10km almost 7 years to the day of Martin's confirmed diagnosis and i'd like you all to dig deep and help support my cause and this charity :) if you would like to know more about this disease or the work this amazing charity does please follow the following link http://www.mndscotland.org.uk/
