Greater Manchester Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

On the 20th December 2006 I as diagnosed with cancer, the following day I became a mum.

7 years on, thanks to the treatment I had at The Christie, I'm fit and healthy and ready to celebrate my 40th year by running the Manchester Marathon.  Thankfully I won't be doing this alone, my amazing friend/running buddy/kick boxing partner Emma will also be taking on the challenge with me.  In the 10 years I have known Emma she has adamantly refused to run a marathon, until now! She too will be rewarding herself with a medal (hopefully a rather large one) just before her 40th birthday.

Training has already begun and for the next 3 months we shall be pounding the streets of Manchester in preperation.  We will be enduring wet, cold and possibly snowy weather to make sure we are ready, however we also need your help.  Your sponsorship will give us th extra motivation we need to train and subsequently complete the 26.2 miles on April the 6th.

Not only have I needed the help, treatment and support from The Christie, but also very close friends Donna Cunningham, Maggie Tassou, Rada Kemp and Rhona B.  It'a scary that so many friends have also been ill.

Please help The Christie to continue being the largest cancer treatment centre in Europe and one of the largest clinical trials units in the UK.
