Hello!
I like doing adventures and, as you know by now, have done a few - from climbing mountains, to outdoor swims, triathlons and cycling the length of Wales off-road on a mountain bike!
In September, I'm off to do another one and this time it's for Simon Says.
They support children and young people under 16 who have experienced the death of a parent (or both). That's one in 29 in that age-group. Or the equivalent of one in every classroom. Simon Says run monthly groups where the young people can be with others like them, and do activities which enable them to help themselves. Simon Says also run training for teachers, produce written resources, run a helpline and an annual residential.
I'm paying for the trip myself, so all donations will go directly to the young people.
Take a look here to hear them talk about all of this - http://www.simonsays.org.uk/.
* Since the earthquakes in Nepal, me and others in the trip considered delaying it, but then were told that we could actually help them rebuild by still going out. 40% of the Nepali economy depends on visitors, so we decided to go and to raise money to help the locals as well as Simon Says. In particular, those young people who have lost one or both parents. Anything I raise over my target, I'll put towards the Nepali people too, whether that's funds or buying much-needed clothes and shipping them out.
Thanks so much, every penny you can donate is hugely appreciated!
Audrey.
