Story

In 2013 I started fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland by participating in a number of ultra marathons and endurance adventure races. I successfully completed both the Antarctic Ice Marathon and the Antarctic 100km Ultra Marathon and became the first Scot to complete the double distance, and raising £7.5k for Alzheimer Scotland. That was the start of my running adventures.

In 2014 I went on to run the 72 mile Great Glen Ultra, 95 miles in a 24 hour trail race and rounded off the year by completing the Volcano Marathon at an altitude of14,500 feet in the Atacama desert in Chile. I contended with low oxygen levels, temperatures of up to 30 degrees, tough mountain terrain and altitude sickness managing to finish 3rd overall woman. My fundraising total rose to £14.k

In 2015 I will continue to fundraise by setting another set of hard challenges. I will be doing the North Pole Marathon, run on the arctic ice floes at the geographic north pole in temperatures as low as -40 degrees C; then just 2 weeks later I will run the 53 mile Hoka Highland Fling;  in June the 95 mile West Highland Way Race and the Glenmore 24 hour trail race in September where I hope to run 100 miles.

I am an ordinary person: a mum and wife and I work full-time. Running is my passion and I have always loved a challenge. I am also passionate about charity and so use my running to fundraise.

All the money that I raise will stay in Scotland, and specifically, will be used on projects in Glasgow and the surrounding area.

All donations go direct to Alzheimer Scotland and my challenge trips are self-funded.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please consider digging deep and making a donation.
