Borneo Half Marathon / 10k 2013 · 5 May 2013

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Pancreatic cancer is a terrible disease. With early diagnosis incredibly difficult, and survival rates one of the lowest at only 4% (in the UK), this horrendous illness takes far too many lives every year. It is the only cancer with five year survival rates in a single digit and yet - in the United States - only 2% of the National Cancer Institute budget is spent on pancreatic cancer research.

Unfortunately and devastatingly, one of my best friends' mum, Yukiko George, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011, and we are raising money for research and treament into the disease to honour her and the struggle she has faced - and is facing.

Pancreatic Cancer UK works to raise money for research into treatmen, raise awareness of the disease, and support those affected and their families.

Charlie and I are both taking part in the Borneo Marathon this year to raise money for the charity - he's doing the half marathon and I'm doing the 10k (which feels like a marathon to me!) so please donate anything you can to help support us in reaching our fundraising goal.

Thank you!
