Great Birmingham 10k 2016 · 1 May 2016 ·

The Kenya Children’s Trust gives children living in Gataka (a slum on the outskirts of Nairobi) an alternative to a very desperate, and often short, life. With free schooling and a meal each day, our school provides 3-6 year olds with their first step to a better, more hopeful future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm going to make this really simple :

I've been overweight, unfit, and inactive for 5 years.

It needs to stop - and to kick start this, I'm committed to running 10k in the Great Birmingham 10k in May.

I have no experience of running, but I'm starting now.

Every pound you donate will spur me on, encourage me, and make me push that extra bit harder. Think of the training I'm going to have to do - surely that's worth some cash...!

I'm matching my commitment pound for pound - meaning that for every lb in weight I lose along the way, I'll donate £15 - with 70lbs to lose, that could cost me a fortune - and I hope it does.

Gemma and I honeymooned in Kenya and saw first hand in the slums and villages just how much help and support is needed. This run will support 3-6 year old Kenyan children to have a better start in life. Surely worth a bit more of your money too!?

So... I'm running. I've never run before. I'm not going to embarrass myself, so I'm training hard. I'd love you to support me - and make me work harder as well through your donations. I promise I won't let you down.

Big thanks,

Austin
