Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Hello, my name is Aveline and I am 18 years old.

Unfortunately a year ago my partner's mother was devastatingly  diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease; a progressive neurological condition which has no cure. The disease is caused by the deterioration of the nerve cells in the brain, reducing the release of the chemical dopamine. The loss of this chemical makes it more difficult to move and will create tremors, stiffness and slow movement.

As well as the difficulty in movement, other symptoms include anxiety, depression, tiredness and impacts the ability to complete day-to-day tasks. The rate of which this disease progresses changes from each person

  • One person in every 500 has Parkinson's. That's about 127,000 people in the UK.

Seeing first hand the effects of Parkinson's has made me determined to make a difference. This is why this summer myself and Scott Kent shall be participating in a challenging 10 day trek of china on the 17th of September 2015 to fund raise. As a pair we are paying all the costs of the trip, so that all donations will 100% go to Parkinson's UK.

With the help of every donation, research to cure this terrible disease is able to take place. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will all go to making a difference. Be apart of finding a cure for Parkison's Disease.
