Dublin & Delhi Delights

Adidas Dublin Marathon 2010 · 25 October 2010 ·
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
All money raised will go to ASHA, a community health and development charity dedicated to improving the lives of slum dwellers in Delhi, India.
It is estimated that 30% of Delhi's population (4 million people) live in overcrowded slums where disease and sickness can run rampant because of such poor living conditions.
The work of ASHA is truly humbling and inspirational and I had the privilege of witnessing this and getting involved when I visited one of their projects in Delhi a couple of years ago.
Teams from my church, City Life Church, visit the ASHA slum projects every six months to provide support in any way that is required (painting, decorating, kids work, work with the women, etc.) and I am very excited to be joining a team that will be flying out to India in February 2011.
The lives of children, women and families are being tranformed by the services that ASHA provides free-of-charge in an area of extreme poverty where people live in homes made of plastic, mud, reeds or anything else that is at hand, where children and dogs play alongside each other in open sewers, and where clean running water is a scarcity and something that many only dream of...
So please give whatever you can spare - it will go an extremely long way in helping to continue to make a difference.
Thank you so much,
Avril :o)
PS. Please note that although the City Life Church page features "Edith's Home" all monies raised will be directed to ASHA! Sorry for any confusion that this may cause ... but your donations will get to ASHA! Many thanks.
