Story

ONLY A FEW DAYS TO GO NOW AND WE ARE WELL ON TARGET TO RAISE OVER £500!

THE CAR IS LOOKING GREAT . ITS JUST HAVING THE BRAKES FIXED (AGAIN)!

MY LIST OF ITEMS TO TAKE GETS LONGER AS THE TIME TO GO GETS SHORTER

YOUR DONATIONS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED

THANK YOU, IAN, MIKE AND PAUL

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Mike, Paul and Myself (Ian) are taking part in a Banger Rally Driving an ancient and under-powered Rover Maestro on the Staples to Naples 2009.

It has been desribed as a retro car but I think that is being generous.

The rally was originally run from Staples Corner in London to Naples, Italy.

However, due to various problems around Naples, it runs this year from Calais, France to Rome, Italy.

The First day we drive around 550 miles from Calais into the Swiss Alps for our first night at Sarnen, Switzerland.

Day 2, Its Crossing Switzerland, including seven Mountain passes. Just remember, we are driving a fine Rover car with a 1.3 litre engine. Lets hope it makes it up the hills and that the new brakes are good to stop it (and us) on the way down!

Day 3 The Autostrada from Aprica to Viterbo

Day 4 Viterbo to Rome (Remember All Roads Lead to Rome!)

There are various challenges set on the trip, Fancy Dress, Water Pistol Fights and generally a good time will be had by all.

I am constantly amazed by the Practical Support and Advice that we have received from Companies such as Jean and Nick at Austin Garages in Burton on Trent, www.austingarages.co.uk , Karl at HFE Signs who have signwritten the car, www.hfe-signs.co.uk ,Sean at Focus Technical www.focustechnical.com , Sutton Observer for their interest in the project and for some of the Photographs on this page..

On a more Serious Side, we can remember Friends and Loved ones who are not able to travel with us and its right that we can ask for sponsorship donations to St Giles Hospice which can help others locally in the West Midlands.
