Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.

In Mar 2018 - completely out of the blue - I suffered a heart attack.  I was very fortunate to be treated rapidly and expertly and as a result I have very little residual damage to my heart (and a stent).  Sadly I am the exception to the rule and many many people have long term heart related problems or die from heart related issues.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.

After my heart attack I new I had to get fitter and I got back into exercise and running particularly.  My long term niggles to my calves and Achilles seem to have faded away and whilst I had told myself in the past that I never wanted nor had the ability to run a marathon I now consider it a possibility and do so while raising funds for the BHF seems the right thing to do.

So the Marathon Training starts now for the big day on 19th April (day after my 54th birthday).

If you are able to spare a few pounds for The BHF as I take on this endeavor then that would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks.
