Malpeet K9 Biathlon · 16 April 2016

Every day we meet people with wellbeing issues including depression, obesity, loneliness and mental health problems. These issues can lead to personal and social problems such as substance misuse. We support them to tackle the behaviours and lifestyles which put them at risk and hold them back

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and I hope you'll be able to support our challenge.

Balian will be six years old in April.  He's been with us for just over two years, thanks to Protecting Preloved Border Collies rescue (PPBC)..

He's had to adapt to a totally different environment and lifestyle and it's been quite a challenge for both of us.  He needed a job, so we joined Avon Working Trials Training Society,  where we were made to feel very welcome (in spite of the initial barking and lunging!).

We've made great progress on the behaviour front, and the training is coming along too. Balian has taught me more than any other dog I've owned in the past...and when we get things right, it's the most rewarding feeling ever!

The Biathlon will be a challenge for both of us - I'm not a good runner, and am dreading the obstacles...Balian will love the event but will find all the other dogs around us a challenge.  It is also highly unlikely I will be able to persuade him to swim, so I'll probably have to carry him across the water obstacles!   There is a short video of the course under the photos section.

We are doing all this in support of NewLink Wales, a substance misuse charity working throughout Wales providing training, volunteering opportunities and working with diverse communities.

If you are able to donate a few pounds via my JustGiving page, that would be amazing and will go a long way to helping NewLink Wales turn negative pasts into positive futures.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you.
