National Three Peaks Challenge · 11 May 2019

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Dear Friends and Colleagues

A January management meeting at Balsham (Building’s) Ltd moved
on to the less formal subject of company social events. This was when the Three Peaks Challenge was first tentatively thrown in to the ring!!! This challenge is a popular event where teams of walkers attempt to climb and drive between the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all within the scarily short time of 24 hours. It was soon decided that a worthy cause should be able to benefit from our efforts. Out of the many deserving charities in the UK The Alzheimer’s Society was the chosen charity.

Several iterations of participants later, 10 volunteers finally made themselves known. The date chosen…11th May 2019. Our journey begins with a flight to Edinburgh on the 10th May and walking starting at 8.00 am on Saturday finishing at 8.00 am Sunday after descending Snowdon following an overnight climb. We sincerely hope that you will be able to help us reach our target of £1500. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Follow this page over the 24 hours and you will see updates on our progress, hopefully all good and hopefully all awake!

Thanks to the Newmarket Journal for the photo

“Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice”
