Story
Well I've finished the Marathon in a time of 3:29:03, very pleased with that and with the money we have raised for the Bristol Children's Hospital
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm currently training for my first full marathon, though I have completed numerous half marathons before I have never entered a full marathon. After 3 years of trying I have secured a ballot place entry into the 2010 Virgin London Marathon. I have decided to raise some sponsorship for my chosen charity of the Bristol Children's Hospital.
I'm sure everybody at Renishaw is aware of the sterling work this hospital has done for Steve & Kim Oakes' little girl Martha and many other little children and their families in the Bristol Area.
Hopefully I can just raise a little bit of money to help Bristol Children's Hospital to say thank you for their continued efforts for Steve, Kim, Molly and Martha Oakes.
I am a member of the Bristol based club 'Bitton Road Runners' and train at least 4 times a week. My current 'weekly' mileage is in excess of 40 miles
So far the training has been going well and I am hopefull of a respectable time at this years event.
My Current PB's are
5K : 19.45 (Set during marathon training 23-02-10)
10K : 42.11
Half: 1:32:15
20 miles: 2:32:47 (set during marathon training at the Ashby 20 21/03/10)
A bit about The Grand Appeal (Bristol Children's Hospital)

The Appeal seeks to enrich and enhance patient care and to ensure access to a wide range of leisure, educational and medical facilities so that children and their families receive the very best medical care and treatment possible.
The Grand Appeal raises funds through generous support from local and regional companies, schools, community groups and individuals.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
NOTE: I don't have to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship to enter the race. I have a ballot place so anything I raise for the Charity is an extra 'bonus' for them.
The marathon is a long-distance foot race with an official distance of 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), that is usually run as a road race. The event was instituted in commemoration of the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon (the namesake of the race) to Athens
