Story
The Rugby Portobello Trust is a children’s and youth charity on Walmer road, a few minutes walk from Grenfell Tower. They have been at the heart of the Grenfell disaster from day one, being the main support point for families affected by the fire.
This year they are extending their Summer School for local children to ensure that all families affected by the Grenfell disaster have support through the summer for childcare, activities and education needs. We would love to help raise some funds for this, and the other great initiatives the Rugby Portobello runs in the community.
Rugby Portobello has been operating in the area in various forms for over 100 years, helping thousands of the most vulnerable children and young people in our neighbourhood get the support they need to lead fulfilling lives free from crime and deprivation.
RPT gives young people a chance to grow and flourish in a safe and nurturing environment, offering them the opportunity to try new activities and learn new skills while getting support and advice from trained and passionate staff members and volunteers. With services such as homework clubs, sports academies, parenting groups, youth clubs, parenting groups, one-on-one educational support and a new girls-only programme, RPT is constantly working to offer local young eople the chance to learn new skills and develop their self-esteem.
RPT are incredibly grateful for the community support that we receive, which accounts for 87% of our funding.
