Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am very excited to be running the London Marathon to raise funds for Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE), in their first ever London Marathon place!

GRWE is the leading greyhound rescue charity in England and Wales independent of the greyhound racing industry. They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of greyhounds and lurchers, and re-home around 500 of these special dogs every year.

GRWE started as a small operation in the West Country, and now have a presence across much of the country – so they can give many more greyhounds and lurchers the chance to find their forever home.

It is because of my love of dogs and my work colleague Tanya that I am running the London Marathon to raise funds for GRWE.

Some of my childhood was spent growing up on a farm. Sam, our lurcher very much part of the family. He was a real softie and much loved :)

Tanya has rescued two greyhounds from GRWE. You can see Milly and Roy in the pictures section. Milly is 9 years old she has been with Tanya and her family for 3 years now. Milly was very nervous of men at first, it was obvious that she had been mistreated.  Slowly Milly's trust was gained and she is now very affectionate and loyal. She loves to throw her toys around the house and pounce on them. The family were very proud recently when she won best in show at a local charity dog show :)

Roy is 6 years old and was a prize winning racer before hanging up his racing colours. Roy is very affectionate and loves lots of cuddles and squeaky toys.  Roy can also be naughty and has chewed in way through various things, including a new pair of designer sunglasses (still in the bag), a whole loaf of bread and a tray of freshly baked cookies! Both Roy and Milly were not used to living in a home and had to be taught to climb stairs and jump into the boot of a car. Roy loves going in the car so much now that any open boot is fair game!
