Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is an independent charity working in Dorset. All of their services are provided free of charge. 75% of the funds they need are raised locally; the rest is given by the NHS. They are the only agency providing specialist palliative care in north, south and west Dorset.
I have been an endurance athlete of sorts for most of my adult life.I have cycled a long way, run a few marathons, done some long distance swimming and done lots of long walks. On 13th September 2015, just 10 weeks before I reach 60 years of age, I will take on what is for me the ultimate endurance challenge - a full ironman distance triathlon. So I am not asking you to sponsor me to swim 3.8km in the sea, or to cycle 180km - or even to run a full marathon. I'm asking you help me raise money for the most excellent cause - Weldmar Hospicecare Trust as I take on all 3 - the swim of 2 miles - the 112 mile bike ride and the 26 mile marathon - all without stopping. I have been training hard all year and I have completed the Challenge in 14 hours and 7 minutes. THis was the fastest time in my age category of woman aged 60 - 64.
Thanks for reading so far and I hope you will be able to make a donation. All of the money raised will go to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust. Despite raising over £1000 I will not be accepting the £350 entry fee back from Weldmar. That £350 will be going sraight back into the Hospicare funds.
