Barbara's Bowel Cancer UK Walk Together 2019

Bowel Cancer UK Walk Together 2019 · 21 September 2019
I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in September 2014. The chance of surviving 5 years at stage 4 is only 8%. In 2014-15 I had two major operations and six months of chemo. I then had a recurrence in October 2016 and was told that I was inoperable and incurable and put on palliative chemotherapy. After more than 50 cycles of chemo (over two years) I was accepted for cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC at Imperial London. This is very major surgery and I was on the operating table for over 10 hours. I am recovering well and recently walked from Grasmere to Easedale Tarn in the Lake District - over 12 kms. I want to thank the surgeon, Jamie Murphy and the specialist nurse, Anne Moutadjer, by joining their team, raising money for Bowel Cancer UK, through their 'Walk Together 2019'.
