Story

Any messages of condolences will be printed out and shared with dad .

We first took Mum to the doctors on 15th March as she was showing slight signs of confusion. A week later Mum lost her short term memory, two weeks later her long term memory. Mum was admitted to Hospital on the 9th April and then on Friday 17th April we got the  devastating news that Mum had been diagnosed with sporadic CJD, an incurable brain disease that effect 1 in a million people, there is more chance of being struck by lighting.

As Mum tested negative for Covid-19 the hospital allowed us to visit Mum daily and for the last 3 days someone was with her 24 hours a day.

Mum peacefully passed away in the morning of Tuesday 28th April, the only thing we can take away from this was that at no time did Mum seem distressed or in any pain, A nurse commented on one update that Mum was pleasantly confused.

Mum does love flowers but we are going to suggest to only have flowers from family for the funeral otherwise I think we would need a lorry to transport them as she was loved by so many people in so many different ways.

We have had be asked by numerous people if there is a specific charity that people can donate to in Mums memory. As Mums illness was so rapid and because of the current pandemic we didn’t actually get the need to use the CJD support network but we still feel this is a suitable charity for any donations.
