A tragedy in England has helped poor children in Northern India to a new start in life.  Your donation could immeasurably improve the educational opportunities for young children.

17 year old Hannah Foster had a brilliant future ahead of her.  She was a student at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College who aspired to becoming a doctor.  She had passed all her exams with flying colours and had an offer from University.  Tragically Hannah was murdered in Southampton in 2003 and her assailant fled to India to evade justice.

A Darjeeling taxi driver, Jason Lepcha, recognised the culprit who was eventually brought to justice at Winchester Crown Court. Jason used the reward  to bring free, good quality education to the poorest children in his home village. The school was built on land donated by Jason's family.  The school has grown.  80 -100 children aged 4-12 from poor families who pick tea for a living, benefit from what is considered the gold standard in India: an education delivered in English. They receive a free meal each day and are provided with a school Uniform - a pre-requisite for school in India.

Older children are sponsored by the Hannah Memorial Academy charity to attend secondary schools away from the village.  The first students from the Academy, are now reaching the age when Hannah was planning to go to University. They have the opportunity now that she was so terribly denied.

Your donation will help with the running costs of the Hannah Memorial Academy, which is government approved and registered in India.  It is also a registered charity in the UK ( No 1125447).
