We thought we were going to lose Clara when she was a year old. She was born with a faulty valve in her heart. Just a tiny flap of tissue, but the difference between her growing, and not.

Surgery by the amazing team in Leicester saved her. The help Heart Link gave us then - and throughout the next three years - made our experience bearable.

They funded a machine which meant her medicine could be managed at home, rather than needing weekly visits to Leicester.

For those three years, Clara was healthy and managing her underlying condition was almost a breeze.

Sadly Clara suddenly became ill in March 2022, and this time, despite incredible efforts by the team at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, couldn't be saved. Again, we were able to be so close to her in her final days because of Heart Link's funding for parent accommodation.

We'd love to give back to the charity so that others can receive the same help we did.
