I always wanted to run another marathon but kept putting it off after having children as I didn't think I could commit to the training. However after a moment of madness and wanting to raise some money for a little known but worthwhile charity called Storybook Dads I bit the bullet and entered The New Forest Marathon in September. 

Every year in the UK over 200,000 children suffer the trauma of having a parent in prison. Storybook Dads enables prisoners (mums, dads, grandparents) to record a favourite story which is transferred to a CD with sound effects which they can give to the child. This really helps children maintain a vital bond with their relatives who are in prison.

I know first hand how beneficial this charity is and hearing the sound of a loved ones voice can lessen the pain of the separation. 

Each CD costs £10 to make so my aim is to raise £1000, therefore spreading some smiles to 100 children.
