Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi Everyone,
Apologies for yet another fundraising plea (I promise it will be the last one for a while!).
On Sunday 29th July I will be cycling 100 miles from London, out to Box Hill in Surrey, and back to London to raise money for Diabetes UK.
As most of you know, 20 years ago my older brother James died from Diabetes aged just 8. Very soon after, my younger brother Giles was diagnosed with Diabetes and unfortunately it will continue to run through our family's future generations. Most people don't think of Diabetes as life threatening, but it is, and someone is diagnosed with it every two minutes. At this time there is no known cure for Type 1 diabetes or Type 2 diabetes. However, Diabetes UK are funding pioneering, life-changing research into care, treatment and prevention, and working to find a cure for all types of diabetes.
To mark this 20 year anniversary Giles, Immy and I are all doing a challenge to raise money for Diabetes UK. Giles has swum the length of the Channel, Immy is doing a Tough Mudder Half Marathon and I will be getting on my lycra and sexy cycling shoes to do the Prudential Ride 100.
It would be great to raise some money for this fantastic cause so any donation, however small, would be so gratefully received! And if you fancy some youtube worthy entertainment (considering at this moment in time I can't unclip my feet properly when stopping), supporters on the 29th July along the route would also be welcome...
Thank you, Becka X
