Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

In a horrible echo of my dad’s cancer and death 13 years ago, in July my stepdad lost a quick but brutal battle with cancer. Those of you who knew him will testify to his larger than life personality and his kindness to those who needed a leg-up in life. He was a support to those in need and a caring stepdad for 29 years - and the end came way too fast and too hard.

During his illness, the volunteers at St Richards Hospice took time to listen and understand the man that he was; an individual, a successful businessman, a knowledgeable historian, a young football star, a head boy, a husband and a father. They chatted to him about all had achieved and really invested in him as a person, albeit for a horribly short time. And they supported my mum, his amazingly dedicated wife, who bore the brunt of it all during Covid lockdown and beyond.

So, I’m running a marathon in his memory - my first ever - and I’ve picked one in winter over a muddy, hilly and probably wet course in order to encourage you to part with a few pounds to pay it forward to the next family that St Richard’s supports in memory of a much loved stepdad: Keith Webb.
