Story
After starring in a fat suit on Britains Got Talent with my other talent opera singing and coming second to a bloody dog i've decided to ditch the singing and concentrate on what i'm really good at, thats running.
I have toiled through adversity and after overcoming a terrible injury of clicky knee i've decided to run the Great North Run.
I have to say i'm to nice to just rock up and do it so this year i've decided to run for charity, i know there are hundreds of thousands out there but my chosen charity is the cranio-facial unit at Leeds General Infirmary. There are two reasons 1. I love Leeds and go there loads 2. My soon to be husbands best man, and quite possibly my greatest friend has a son who had treatment at LGI on his skull, basically when he was born his skull fused together when there should be a crack to allow the brain to grow normally. In lay mans terms little Harry's skull was taken off broken up a bit and then put back together again. Sounds simple but he was in theatre for over 5 hours and after he spent some time in intensive care. The doctors at LGI gave Harry a life changing operation, and don't forget they are working with something which can be as fragile as an egg shell one wrong move could've been fatal, the dr's state anyone who tells you there is no risk involved is either a liar or they've never done the operation.
This was the worrying time and his heart rate, and breathing caused some problems, even morphine which apparently would've knocked his 6'3" rugby playing dad out, didn't even come close to this little boy.
Fortunately the story does have a happy ending did such a good job that he is due to make a full recovery with no real signs apart from the enormous scar which runs ear to ear.
The doctors and nurses provide everything for the children and parents, but everything costs and the team and i would like to give something back. Harry will continue to go to LGI till he is 15 for check ups such is the care he receives.
I know we are in a recession but if you are true friends you will spare some money to sponsor me to run a full 13 miles faster than anyone else in my team
