Rat Race Dirty Weekend · 6 May 2017
Two years ago I decided I didn't want to go through life thinking, 'if only' or 'why didn't I'. So many people I know have been brave enough to challenge themselves, to step out of their comfort zone and do something that truly challenges them. I wasn't brave enough to choose a marathon. Road running just isn't for me, so this is the next best thing, and looking at the 'worlds longest monkey bars', I consider it quite a challenge.
Rat Race Dirty Weekend - Burghley
200 obstacles over 20miles
For those that don't know me.. I don't do running!
They sent me an email last week selling head torches, is it really going to take me that long? Probably!
I have chosen EAAA as my charity.
I love to ski, you see each year so many people taking the quick way off the mountain because they have injured themselves. They pay for that journey and the support. Yes they got injured doing a sport they chose to do and therefore should pay, however each and every year so many thousands of people get injured driving or riding or working in our local community. Yes they may have chosen to do some of these activities but not necessarily in the same way as I described above and many of those rescued are involved in complete accidents. EAAA step in and rescue people, putting their own lives at risk and those that are rescued pay with gratitude but do not have to 'pay'.
I have not yet been in a situation where they were needed but know people who have. They were so very grateful and I only hope they continue to have the funds to fly and rescue if anyone of my family or friends need them. This is my contribution of support.
