Story
Wow....Trekking Peru!! I don't like heights, am afraid of large hairy spiders and freeze the minute the sun hides behind a cloud and fry when it re appears!.....
But some years ago a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer which progressed over time and eventually cancer took her away from her family....her husband and her children to name a few of the lives this amazing woman had touched!
Kate like many other people i have come into contact with, through my work as a therapist, touched people emotionally. Her story is sadly not unique....but her link to me is...she had three children the same age as my eldest three..... there are days like all parents, when i look at my children and feel an overwhelming and all consuming love and gratitude to not only have my children but to be a part of watching them grow into the beautiful people they are today......something Kate and so many others taken by cancer, loose....the families and friends left behind with only precious memories.
Each year we have walked the 20 mile Ribbon Walk and next year i plan to Trek Peru........to raise money and the all important awareness of Breast cancer...........
WHY? Because i feel a sense of responsability to my own daughter, but also for Kate.......Ellen, Michaela and Jordan and anyone else affected by cancer directly or indirectly....... because i choose to make a difference! and so can YOU...by sponsering me
I am going to Trek Peru as a self funder....which means i have paid for my flights and accomodation...SO all the money raised here on this page will go to BREAST CANCER charity.
Next year i turn 40...celebrate my eldest sons 20th,!!! eekk.. an 18th, my daughters 16th and my youngests 12th and qualify as a counsellor...... all milestones in my personal journey ........but one of my biggest achievements will be that i trekked Peru and remembered some of those people lost to cancer...........and celebrated their personal journeys, however short lived they can seem at times.
Kate was an inspiration to many, certainly to me as a mother of young children at the time, and if remembering her can raise money to help others affected by cancer, then................. here is to you Kate.
.......help me to raise as much money as possible and trek peru in the name of all those affected by cancer...Help me to make next year an even bigger year to celebrate...the year i reached my goal and raised £3000. for charity!!
Thank you
