One in four of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year.
Over the course of a lifetime, each and everyone one of us will experience mental illness or know someone who has. And for many, mental health will be a lifelong challenge.
Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) is passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing and delivering high quality recovery focused services. AWP cares for more than 36,000 people every year across Bristol, Bath, North Somerset, B&NES, Swindon and Wiltshire.
Beechlydene is a 21 bed acute ward based at Fountain Way Hospital in Salisbury.
As a ward we have thought about key areas we can therapeutically improve which include: creating a sensory stimulating zen garden, decorating
the courtyard areas and interiors of the ward with wall murals, and other images, having equipment to do activities like photography workshops, and also
having seasonal entertainment during the year. The project will encompass these main areas, with the hope to improve at least one area in the year.
A group of us staff members on Beechlydene are taking part in a 5k obstacle course run with the aim of fundraising money for Headlight to make our ward a more therapeutic environment in order to promote wellbeing and recovery.
