Story
Thank you all for making it this far. Not much further for you to go but 26.2 miles for me! For my sins I am planning on running the London Marathon in April in aid of The Bridges in Hull, a drug and alcohol treatment centre run by RAPt (the Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust), a truly worthwhile charity which offers people a second chance in life. It also provides the opportunity for me - the food-loving, bed-hugging, fag-puffing, Countdown-obsessive - to get those Nikes out, get jogging and raise some dosh.
I know that these messages come flooding into your inbox as people continuously cross the finishing lines of Nepalese egg-and-spoon races, North pole crawls, Zimbabwean triathlons and whatever else. It would, however, be wonderful if you might take a moment to read about the wonderful work of RAPt and donate as many or as few pennies as you see fit.
The Bridges is the only treatment centre in England helping ex-offenders to continue their recovery programme after they have left prison. Your gift will help willing, but under-privileged men transform their lives for good. RAPt as a whole aims to stop addiction and thus stop the cyclical nature of much crime. It works to help people with drug and alcohol dependence, both in prison and in the community, move towards, achieve and maintain positive and fulfilling drug-free and crime-free lives. Thank you so much for your contribution.
