Story

Hi.  Faced with some time on my hands next year, I've decided its time to do something different.  (Scroll down for latest updates)

I'm trying to raise as much money as I can for Macmillan Cancer Support and am taking part in their Peru Hiking Challenge next May - 8 days of high altitude hiking and rough camping!  I'm going to cover the costs of the trip (35%) myself and all donations will go 100% to Macmillan.

As well as looking for sponsors for the hike, I've got lots of ideas for mini fund raising schemes over the coming months- from cake sales to supermarket collections.  Watch this space for regular updates.

If you have any ideas ..., or would like to help ..., or if you can afford a donation ... then I would be most grateful.

10/12/2010 update -  A big thank you to my Mum for her help.  £68 collected on the theatre bus trip and £57 collected at the WI Christmas party.  Also £159 raised by Dave from employees of Amada.  Coffee and cakes morning scheduled for 16th December at SSS.

17/12/2010 update - £180 raised by SSS with a fantastic raffle and plenty of cakes.  Money also rolling in from items donated for sale on Ebay.  A big thank you to Jo and Ben for the toys.  Also £71 raised by the Riverside Players.

24/12/2010 Thank you to all the people who have donated online.  Paula, Cindy, The Mellors and Mum & Dad.  Thank you for cheques recieved from Tina, Libby, Gary Godfrey, The Walls, Brian Bettam, Ian Morrison and Ken Allan.  Thanks to Jonathan for donating his keyboard to be sold on Ebay.  Also 'Mature Movers' Christmas party raised £28.  A collection day has been set up at Sainsburys in Neston in February and I'm also making plans for a 'Cheese & Wine' evening in the New Year.

14/1/2011 Aaaah! I've twisted my knee skiing, hoping to be off the crutches next week so that I can start walking, planning to do some swimming in the meantime. A big thank you to all the on line donations; The Ashes, The Wrights, Carol, Sue and The Gees.  Also donations received from Philippa Nichols, Ina Brenton, Owen Williams and Sally Taylor.

31/1/2011  Fantastic cheese and wine party on Saturday night, collected £175, hope everyone enjoyed the night. Thanks to Janet and Tim & Diane who donated even though they couldn't make it.  Amy, Beth and Laura did a great job with the raffle tickets. Cindy knitted a beautiful baby shawl that raised £25 on Ebay and Amy donated her boots that sold for £19.

13/2/2011  The response at Sainsburys in Neston was fantastic, we collected £483.99 which has taken me sailing over my target.  The day was really enjoyable, we saw lots of friends and neighbours during the day and everyone was genuinely enthusiastic about what we were doing.  A big thank you to the Maltbys for their donation and to Suzie, the Lyons and Stewart for contributing even though they couldn't make it to the cheese & wine party.
