I know what it feels like to have your life completely altered by disability and ill health. Things that many people take for granted, such as going for a walk to enjoy the countryside, can seem like a marathon – or, a complete impossibility to some.

That’s why, because I can, I’ve signed up to run the iconic 26.2 miles – the biggest challenge I’ve ever known in health-time – to raise money for those who can’t, and to help enable them to also experience the joy of physical activity.

Calvert’s aim is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure, providing memorable and life-enhancing experiences, holidays and respite for disabled people and their friends and families inside their safe, inclusive and supportive facilities.

I learned first hand how crucial outdoor activities are to our health and well-being, and to keep us feeling light and joyful when life weighs us down. Life isn’t just about surviving; it’s about living. At Calvert Trust, it’s what you CAN do that counts.

So, I invite you to follow my journey from 0 to 26 in five months; to join my events so that I’m not singing karaoke to an empty room or running laps around Whistlandpound Lake with no one to feel sorry for me; to laugh at me, to cry with me, possibly to learn from me – but most of all, to be inspired.
