Ben Nevis Night Hike · 24 August 2018
On the 24th August 2018 we will be climbing the 4413ft to the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain! Walkers normally set off early in the day to avoid the possibility of getting caught in the dark, however, we'll be starting our ascent at around 10pm meaning we'll be climbing for a few hours in the pitch black. All the safety advice states how important it is to stick to the main path - that might be tricky when we've only got a head torch to light our way...
As some of you may know Rachael and Seonaid have made some of their best (worst) decisions after a couple of glasses of wine, and this time they've managed to rope Neil in to join them on the latest fundraising challenge to support the MS Society - a cause that's important to us all. At present there is no cure for MS and although many of the symptoms can be managed, continuing to fund research will hopefully one day lead to a breakthrough.
What your donation could fund:
£5 allows basic laboratory equipment, including petri dishes, to be purchased allowing scientists to study cells and tissue samples to gather invaluable information about MS.
£10 buys a gym ball which is used for physiotherapy treatment to help improve the quality of life of people living with MS.
£30 covers the cost of testing a blood sample, allowing researchers to gather information on the genes and immune system of people living with MS.
£50 funds the use of a specialist microscope for one hour, enabling researchers to study cells and tissue samples in great detail.
(more information on how the MS Society will use the money we raise can be found here: https://www.mssociety.org.uk/research/explore-our-research/our-research-priorities/how-your-money-is-spent).
We've set an ambitious fundraising target of £1345 as we'll be climbing 1345m to the top of Ben Nevis. Anything you can give at all would be greatly appreciated, and would mean so much to each of us and the MS Society.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and thank you so much for your support,
Neil, Rachael and Seonaid x
